Boardwise & RRD set the Team Racing Series on Fire(Race)

SWA team up with RRD and Boardwise to get a new team racing board: RRD FireRace

Some exciting news for student windsurfers all over the country as the hugely popular SWA Team Racing series gains some new sponsors; RRD and Boardwise.

This year the series will step the competition up a gear with a brand new fleet of 10 RRD FireRace 120L boards, kindly donated by RRD and Boardwise. These boards are more than a freeride board, they are full on slalom machines designed for break-neck speed and fast carving transitions. They share their design with the PWA Slalom X-Fire V2 boards, making them all but identical and just as fast.

The boards will be used in the team race format in which 3-person teams relay in a master blaster format.

The boards will be brought to the SWA festival and each core event for the Team Racing Series. If your club would like to buy one to add to your club's board quiver then speak to Boardwise at the next event to find out the amazingly low price!

Even more exciting is the fact that the team racing series prize is one of the boards. That is right; one lucky club will get to win one of these speed machines!

SWA Director Beaker got to test the board out earlier this year, here are his thoughts:
"I found that my Initial concerns over the size of the board suiting the series were quickly dispelled as it handled the 7.5m like a dream and felt surprisingly floaty underfoot. Much of the volume lies under and behind the mast so while it required some nifty footwork when tacking, for the cross-wind blasting and gybing which take place in the SWA Team Racing Series it will be perfect. Even through light to no wind lulls it happily bobbed along with both of my feet well behind the mast-track. The board was also noticibly wide at the nose (see above pics) and I found this meant I could use that extra length to grind the rail into the water and to make decent ground upwind in light wind conditions. As the gusts hit (and this was noticable in the NWF masterblast), it was one of the first boards on the water to get planing. SWA Team Racing is going to be even more exciting this season!"
