Scale of one to ten - How much are you excited about the SWA Festival?

Website Guide

The website you see now is the third major edition of the SWA website and as you will  hopefully notice we are constantly adding new functions and fancy gizmos to keep it interesting. This guide is intended to help you find everything we have on offer on the site.

Registering on the site:

To get the full benefit of the site you will need to create a login account. You can do this on the right hand side of the site but your president must have already uploaded your name and email address at the start of the year. If you think they haven't then please contact the SWA committee.

How to use the site:

When you are registered, make sure you log on to the site and this will open up the user menus which will allow you to do so much more!

                      ----------------------------Main Menu------------------------------

Events

All of the SWA events are stored here, from the latest news about upcoming events to old articles from way back when.  If you let your mouse hover over the button an extra menu will appear if by magic!

Forum

There are loads of things happening in the forum.  Have a look and you'll find everything from discussions on technique to things to do when you are trying to write essays (there is a great film quiz).  Generally a very useful place to go when you should be working.

Arguably the most important part of the site, here you can view all the photos from SWA events.  Beware - these may not be pretty and you probably shouldn't look at them where anyone important can see

Kitesurfing

We know, we know, no place for that sport on this site but as we originally set up SKA, our sister organisation, we thought we should throw in a link to them too. So if yoy're that way inclined then follow the link

SWA-Team

The SWA Team are our own set of sponsored sailors looking to dominate the main UKWA competition scene. Find out more about them and what they are up to here?

SWA-Abroad

We have been collecting travel stories from anyone that wants to email them to us and wil post any we receive plus pictures to this area. Let us know where you went to, what adventures you had and most importantly, what the wind was like!

Get Involved

A bit about the SWA, the committee and how it all works. (like clockwork supposedly..)

Contact Us

Send us an email or find out who's who in the world of the SWA.  Again, it has a pop up menu if you let your mouse linger...

                         ----------------------------User Menu------------------------------

Your Details

Keep your details up to date to help us with running the site and our never ending quest for sponsorship. Don't worry though, we won't pass these details on, we just want to be able to wow companies with figures of how many engineers we have on our books.

Video Zone

Using the word 'zone' in the title makes it sound much more 'hip' we thought but really it's a collection of videos our promotions team have made of events, trips and fun times. We also have videos which other people have made; just upload your video to 'Youtube' and put 'SWA' in the tag words, we check every now and then and will add your video to our site.

Results

All results from the SWA events will be posted here along with a running results table showing how the series is progressing.  Will Southampton take the series again? Who is the fastest on the water? Watch this space!

Live Weather

Live weather data provided by windwatcher.net.  Although it displays cornwall, if you click on the image you can change the area it is looking at.  Also shows all of the good windsurfing spots which will either be green (suitable wind) or red (unsuitable wind) and if you click on the dot it will give you some info about the location - overall incredibly useful!

Event Payment (offline currently)

This is where you pay for the events.  To facilitate the running of the events most events will require you to pay in advance to reserve your place.  This is done through Nochex again and so is simple and secure - there is no need to register an account, you can just put in card details.

Presidents will also have access to the presidents menu where all the complicated stuff i dont understand occurs:

This is where all the committee files are held - important stuff like headed paper templates i guess?
