Networking If you are going to a new city and want to meet windsurfers who live and work in your area, email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. It’s a weekend of camping, windsurfing and partying. WHEN: The weekend before Aussie Kiss Festival, generally the second weekend in October. WHERE: Polzeath in Cornwall. SWA Events – Wait a second, aren’t I too old to go to these now?? Nah, you’re never too old. Please come along! Relax, party and enjoy the festival atmosphere. All SWA events can and are attended by ex-students, however you can only buy one sort of ticket, an XSWA ticket. An XSWA ticket can be bought by both students and non students, it is a ticket that includes everything except windsurfing (it is also known as a party ticket). To attend any event which has XSWA spaces just login to the site using your normal account login details, go to the "XSWA Event Payment" link in the user menu and follow the instructions. If you do not yet have a login account then email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with details of who you are and your link to the swa so we know that you're not a complete randomer coming to cause mischief and we will send you a password to use to create an account.
Core events are the main events in the SWA series. They are open to student windsurfers of all abilities, including those with more of a focus on the party and the fancy dress than the windsurfing... Sadly we don't cater for XSWA to go windsurfing at the core events. XSWA people are more than welcome to attend an event, however they cannot go onto the water. Not having XSWA on water is a matter of policy based on: Safety boat ratios, the use of pooled kit and the fact that the SWA is focused on students. If XSWA members were on the water at an event (even if they were using their own kit), they would be filling up safety ratios so a student would not be able to windsurf. Isn’t this just a matter of insurance and red tape? Please can I get around the xswa-are-not-allowed-to-windsurf policy if I get my own insurance? Sorry, rules is rules. All SWA members have insurance through the university windsurf clubs that they are a member of. All university windsurf clubs get insurance for their members by affiliating each one with their university Athletic Unions (who organise the insurance). In short, only current students are eligible to windsurf at SWA events.
These events, held on the UK’s best wave beaches, are great for the more advanced windsurfers. As an XSWA, you can windsurf! –But not with us, our safety cover won’t cover you. Go free windsurfing on the same beach at the same time and then come and party hard with us. If you have any questions then email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
